Important findings The following management measures are suggested for integrated management of root knot disease Pretreatment of sapling roots in 100 ppm carbofuran solution prior to planting. Integrating farm yard manure with neem cake and intercultivation of marigold plants. Application of double dose of farmyard manure (40t/ha/yr) controls disease and increases leaf yield by 27%.Application of carbofuran @ 2.5 kg/ha/yr to reduce nematode population and subsequent maintenance through organic soil amendments and intercultivation of plants such as marigold, and sesamum.Planting nematode free saplings to prevent the spread of nematodes from diseased to disease free areas.Removal of alternate hosts such as weeds in mulberry gardens to reduce nematode population build up in gardens. To increase vigour of plants by providing adequate nutrition. |
