Objectives

  • To know the changes (The biochemical metabolites viz., proteins, reducing sugars, total soluble sugars, amino acids, phenols and photosynthetic pigments) in the nematode infested leaves.
    • To evaluate the commercial characters and yield by feeding leaves from nematode infested plant.

Important findings

Farmers must be careful while picking leaves from such stunted plants as they could be infested by nematodes. Mere suspected plants will reveal the presence of knotted/ galled roots, if they are nematode-infested. Leaves from the nematode infected plants should not be used as silkworm feed.
