Objectives

  • To carry out detailed study of stem canker disease of mulberry.
  • Repeated use of same nursery site will cause the occurrence of disease. Planting of cuttings during unfavorable season should be avoided to check the disease..
  • Stacking of pruned stem portions besides nursery beds and gardens should be avoided.
  • Captan solution; wound dressing with 0.2% Carbendazim or Captan spray effectively controls the disease.
  • Pruning/cutting the stem 0.5 cm above the bud is advised to avoid the incidence of stem canker.
  • Dipping the cuttings in 0.1% Carbendazim for 30 minutes prior to planting should be followed.
