Important findings A new leaf blight disease was found in seed nurseries of different mulberry varieties grown at CSR&TI,Mysore. Most (70-80%) of the seedlings and also saplings grown nearby were found infected by the disease. The disease symptoms on leaf were characterized by the initial appearance of slight burning at the leaf tip, later spreading towards the base and gradually entering the main stem through petiole. The study revealed that Alternaria alternatais potential pathogen and may become a main threat to mulberry cultivation in future. |
