Objectives

  • To study the epidemiology and to develop control measures forCercosporaleaf spot disease.

Important findings

Increase pruning height to 40 cm above ground in regions where the disease intensity is severe reduce the disease.

Advancing the bottom pruning to March/April from June/July significantly reduces the disease intensity.

Carbendazim, Captan, Captafol, Copper Oxychloride and Dinocap @ 0.1-0.2% concentration are found effective for controlling the disease.

In severely disease prone zones, soil treatment with Captan, Captafol or Wettable sulphur at 8 kg/acre suppresses the soil borne inoculum reducing the disease severity.
