Important findings

Nemotode infested plantations were recorded at Sevalur, Pillavakkal and Srivilliputhur (Kamaraja district) and Mavuthurkarai. During July 1987, 50% wilting was recorded at Konam, 25% at Srivilliputhur and 5% at Sevalur, Pillavakkal and Maruthur-Karai and the incidence was sporadic in all to other sericulture places. The causal organism was observed to beXiphinema basiri, which is a first record on mulberry.
