Important findings Aqueous (02% (w/v) acaciasides (160mg/plant) was applied twice on 0.2 ha each of selected field, at 30 and 20 days prior to the brushing of respective crops. The root gall index, rhizospheric nematode population (at ca 10 cm depth, major foliar disease severities, insect pest incidence, morpho biochemical attributes and leaf yield were recorded one month after the first spray. The treatment consistently reduced Meloidogyne incognita infection, over all gall reduction was 43% and inhibition of rhizosphere nematode population was 71% of their respective control. The field study suggests that the acaciasides may be exploited commercially for the control of Meloidogyne incognita and Maconellicoccus hirsutus induced mulberry diseases. To ascertain the residual toxicity at silkworm level, bioassay was conducted feeding acaciaside treated leaves and time course of bio degradability of the said bio-product was probed spectrophotometrically. |
